From Sept. 20 – 29 , 2004 a daily training for Austrian and Swiss troops took place around the clock, in and nearby the Military –Base “Götzendorf”, Lower Austria, for their Mission in Kosovo.
On Sept. 30 th 386 Austrian soldiers and 105 Swiss had been sent to Kosovo for 6 months to replace the 540 Austrian soldiers who already served six months there.
The scenes – like in a movie- were immitated and copied of real situations as well as all kind of conflicts that occur permanently on a daily base and every-days-life in the Kosovo: Crowd and Riot Control; Search and removal of mines, booby-traps and unexploded ordinance; Rescue and evacuation of mine-victims; Recovery of dead bodies; First aid by Military-Paramedics as streets in Kosovo are in bad conditions (that´s why many road-accidents happen); House-searching for war-utilities, smuggled goods and drugs; Checkpoints for vehicles and civilians; Civil-Military-Cooperation, a development-aid with Military support such as personal vehicles, gear and material. |
