I was born in Vienna, Austria
on November 27th, 19xx.
My astrological sign is Saggitarius with Ascendant Leo.
From my early marriage I have an adult daughter who lives on her own now and has moved to Styria.
A few months out of the year, especially over the summer months, I live in Vienna. I have been
continuously traveling over the past 15 years and called all kind of countries with warm climates “home”--lately
Florida is my favorite and has been “a second home” for several years.
I love Austria with all its beauty, fascinating sceneries and landscapes. (Whenever you have a chance come and see it). Of course,
my hometown Vienna with its antique buildings, its cultural highlights and its special flair is something unique I wouldn´t
want to miss in my life. But still it is not the place to stay for good.
Over the past years I have traveled intensively and spontaneously around the world,
along with my "one and only true companions" : my cameras! To be and stay in touch with people, to get to know and learn about
other cultures and to discover and experience new things as well as to enjoy beauty, is and has become a very important fact in
my life. During my numerous trips, always organized and planed by myself, I have discovered many new places and often faced
unusual und extra-ordinary situations. I got to know many interesting and loveable people "in return" that enriched my life.
Some of them have become friends and the bond of friendship has stayed -even throughout borders and across the Atlantic..
What I love: The SUN, the BEACH and the SEA...,
Sports, Arts, traveling, nature, books (especially about Photography) , music (B&B=Blues &Beethoven), and I love to dance;
Harleys and fast cars are fascinating and trigger a special attraction ; my favorite color is pink but roses have to be red.
Important for me are friendly, cheerful, and open-minded people with a positive attitude of life and a great sense of humor;

University, partial studies of psychology and soziology, Arts, English, Sports;
I speak 4 languages; had been teaching Sports, Arts and English at a High-School for more than 12 years, quit my job and
changed into tourism and organized off-road-tours for a few years; Lateron I worked as a freelance-interpreter in Germany,
ran an antique gallery for a private collector in Vienna, also organized international exhibitons in Europe. Back to my
passion and hobby, the photography: I have never really learned photography but developed a special skill for it; even as
a child I found “the world of pictures” extremely fascinating; over the years it became a hobby, now it has
become part of my life and a true “addiction”; due to family-reasons my career unfortunately had led into a
different direction as I had originally planned and dreamt of—but about 10 years back I started to work as a
freelance –photographer for some Austrian daily newspapers, on and off, finally “sticked with “DIE
PRESSE” only, which is Austria´s biggest daily paper.
My dreams and little desires:
To travel to the South Sea, to Alaska, Peru & the Galapagos Islands- I dream of my own photo-exhibition in the US and to
publish a book with some of my best pictures…
My tiny “secret” passions and “weaknesses”:
Deserts: because of their vast endlessness, the peace und lonliness one finds there Sunsets and walks along the Ocean Buddhism a fascinating interpretation of a religion that contains lots of wisdom and tolerance
Animals Elephants (because ot their unique sense for keeping a family together), all species of bears,
( because of their strength , versatility and adaptability to nature; the impression of being “cuddely”–
my favorite: the cute Koalas with their silky-soft fur.. (I know it is not a bear )--… Cheethas (because of their
speed and gracefulness ) My passion to collect thingsOld photos, antique textiles&ceramics , all kind of Teddy-bears, small&tiny boxes;
books and magazines in the field of photogrpahy , traveling, sports and science
What I hate most:
War: all the poverty and tragedy that comes along with Lies: false, unsincere and unreliable people Lack of tolarance and injustice
What I adore: People with special skills, social engagement and positive attitudes, “Mother Theresa” and “Doctors
without borders”; Natives/Primate races that managed to survive, away from or under the influence of civilization and
kept their traditions alive.
Maybe worth mentioning My name: From “Gerti” to “Shelly: my sports- students came up with Shelly (= Schelli ) one day ,
probably as a short form for my last name; this double-name has been used by friends till today and I sticked with it.
JUST FOR FUN:
What I´d take with me on a deserted island… Some pictures of friends and family; a pink lipstick and
a pink nail-vanish ; my camera-gear, a solar-system , satellite-cell-phone and –laptop ( to keep in touch with friends)
; ….last but not least: a bottle of champagne and a red rose …and my mascotes: an old tiny Teddy-bear and a
small crystal pyramid.
