Nalbandian Keeps Pressing Shanghai Claims in Vienna
Top seeded Argentine David Nalbandian beat Austrian qualifier Rainer Eitzinger 6-1, 7-5 to reach
the quarterfinals of the BA-CA TennisTrophy and keep his chase alive for the Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai.
Ferrero's countryman Feliciano Lopez, seeded eighth, reached his eighth quarterfinal of the year
by defeating Austrian wildcard Oliver Marach 6- 4, 6 -7 (5), 7 - 5.
Frenchman Jean-Rene Lisnard saved a match point en route to defeating Austrian Jürgen Melzer 5-7, 6 - 2, 7-6 (4).
Ferrero, who scored his 300th match win in the quarterfinal against top seed David Nalbandian,
is looking to book a place in his second ATP final of the year (Barcelona-l, Nadal).
Third-seeded Czech Radek Stepanek became the first player to reach the BA-CA Tennis Trophy semifinals by overcoming defending champion and No. 8 seed, Feliciano Lopez, 7-6 (8), 7-6 (5) in one hour, 45 minutes.
There were no breaks of serve in the match. Lopez had three set points in the first set but couldn´t convert any.
